Integrative Multi-System Psychiatric Assessment

Counseling Image Takashi Matsuki, M.D. Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist Office Image

Your psychological well-being is formed by multiple inter-related systems including medical, psychiatric, psychological, social, behavioral, lifestyle, cultural, and spiritual. Having been trained in traditional psychiatry, psychotherapy, and primary care medicine, Dr. Matsuki works across multiple systems to gain a comprehensive understanding of issues affecting you, and develops a multi-system plan to address these issues.

Dr. Matsuki performs his initial assessment in one to two sessions, approx. 60 minutes each. His comprehensive in-person assessment will include an in-depth exploration of your present condition, current stressors, mental health history, medical history, and life history. Diagnostic testing is often recommended to consider or not consider any medical issue that may manifest itself as a psychiatric illness, and to find any nutritional deficiencies that can be addressed by taking supplements and changing the lifestyle.

Once this thorough evaluation is complete, Dr. Matsuki will discuss your personalized treatment plan, which includes recommended frequency and modes of the treatment (medication management, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, exercise program, diet modification, supplements, management of underlying medical condition, etc.). You may be referred to appropriate specialists if he believes you need a treatment that is outside the scope of his practice.

Psychotherapy

Medications are only part of the solution although medications can alleviate the severity of your symptoms. In combination with medication management, ongoing psychotherapy is often necessary to achieve the most successful outcome for you. Psychotherapy provides a safe, confidential, and supportive therapeutic environment in which you are able to learn about yourself and make changes in your life. Dr. Matsuki is trained to help people having a wide variety of psychological disorders to understand and change their complex, deep-rooted and often unconsciously caused emotional and relationship problems, thereby reducing symptoms and alleviating distress. Psychotherapy also offers benefits to many people who experience a loss of meaning in their lives or who are seeking a greater sense of fulfillment.
